Sail Track & Awning Mould - Aluminium 6.5m

An Awning Mould, also known as Aluminium Rope Rail or Sail track, is an aluminum extrusion designed to secure fabric to a solid surface. It is commonly used for securing a bakkie tonneau cover by sliding a piping core attached to the tonneau material into the extrusion. The core, typically made of PVC or a similar elastic material, is wrapped in the desired fabric, which usually has exposed fibers on the outside to facilitate smooth sliding into the rope rail. The rope rail extrusion is designed for strength and can bend over a large radius.

Installation of the Rail Installing the rope rail is a straightforward process. Usually, the rail is fixed to the surface using screws. It is recommended to drill holes for screws approximately every 10 to 20 cm along the center of the rail, with at least one screw near each end.

Other Uses for an Aluminium Rope Rail Extrusion Besides its primary use, an aluminium rope rail extrusion can serve various purposes. It can be utilized to secure signage, sails, and tarpaulins in place. Additionally, it can be attached to the side of a caravan to secure extended tent panels. The aluminium rope rail is also referred to locally as a rope track or sail track, and internationally as a sail rope rail, edge reinforcement, hem rope rail, awning track, or welting rail.
